Walter H. Hancock Walter H. Hancock, age 88 of Toledo, Ohio passed away Monday April 5, 2010 in The University of Toledo Medical Center. Walter was born on May 26, 1921 in Toledo, Ohio to Glen and Bertha (Wiess) Hancock. Walter worked for the U.S. Postal service at the main post office for 36 years retiring as a supervisor retiring in 1979. Mr. Hancock served in the United States Army during WWII. He was a 1939 graduate of Libbey High School and was a member of the Maumee American Legion Post #320. Walter was a regular contributor to WGTE Public Broadcasting Station. Walter also enjoyed woodworking; building bird houses, butterfly houses and furniture. Walter was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy in 2000, brother, Donald Hancock and grandson, Benjamin Alan Hancock. surviving are his son, Gary (Margery) Hancock, daughter, Linda (Dave) Emch, brother in law Donald (Sue) Berry. Grandchildren; Melissa (Steffan) Webb, Matthew Mayo, Sarah Juergens, Aaron Emch, Jeremy Emch, Elizabeth (Carl) Cole, Alexandria Hancock. Great grandchildren, Greysen Webb, Brennan Webb, Evelyn Juergens, also surviving are many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the Bersticker-Scott Funeral Home 3453 Heatherdowns Blvd at Byrne Rd Thursday April 8, 2010 3-8 P.M. with Maumee American Legion Post #320 Services at 7:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:30 A.M. at the funeral Home. Interment Ottawa Hills Memorial Park Cemetery. The family suggests memorials to WGTE or to the charity of the donor's choice.
