Nancy Ann (Fabier) Miller, 94, of Toledo, Ohio, left this world peacefully and unexpectedly on June 1, 2025, at The University of Toledo Medical College. She filled her 94 years with love and laughter, sharing a wonderful life with her cherished husband, Charles (Bud) Miller, for over 50 beautiful years. Born in Toledo on July 22, 1930, Nancy was the beloved only child of Walter and Helen Eleanor Fabier. She graduated from Central Catholic High School and Mary Manse College, where she excelled in basketball and the drama program, showcasing her competitive spirit and natural talent. Nancy later earned a Master’s degree in Reading from the University of Toledo, inspiring generations of students during her 35 years of dedicated teaching at St. Patrick of Heatherdowns. She loved reconnecting with former teachers and students upon her retirement, always ready to celebrate her former students’ ongoing successes.
Travel was a great joy for Nancy and Bud; they created memories on weekend trips through the Midwest and Northeast, visiting warm-weather friends in Florida, and savoring family vacations at cozy cabins filled with laughter and card games. Even into her 80s, Nancy’s adventurous spirit thrived as she embarked on a bus tour to the iconic cities of New York and New Orleans. An avid golfer, Nancy was a proud member of Tanglewood and Valleywood golf courses, where her competitive spirit shone brightly. She delighted in winning numerous tournaments. Her strategic mind also made her a force at the Maumee Senior Center, where she enjoyed playing bridge twice a week, eagerly anticipating the thrill of the game and enjoying the company of her many friends and competitors. In her final year, Nancy found a new home at Elizabeth Scott Community, forging new friendships and embracing a variety of activities, all while enjoying delicious meals.
Family was everything to Nancy, and she took immense pride in her 4 children, 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. You could often find her and Bud cheering at their grandchildren’s soccer games, basketball games, wrestling meets, and dance recitals, driving around the Toledo area to support their endeavors with love and enthusiasm.
Nancy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bud. She is survived by her children, Gail Christie, Mark Miller (Cheri), Daniel Miller (Jill), and Brian Miller (Karen).
She will always be remembered for her kindness, deep love for her family, and sharp competitive spirit that inspired those around her.
In honor of Nancy’s enduring commitment to education, memorial contributions can be made to St. Patrick of Heatherdowns School (4201 Heatherdowns Blvd, Toledo, OH 43614). The family will receive friends on Friday, June 6th, at St. Patrick of Heathersdowns after 10:00 am. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. A luncheon celebration of life will immediately following Mass at St. Patrick of Heatherdowns. The burial will be private.
