Helen Gramza (Dabrowiak), 86, formerly of Toledo, Ohio, and Kissimmee, Florida, passed away peacefully at Lakes of Monclova on March 19th. Helen was born on September 15, 1937, to Casimir Dabrowiak and Catherine (Borek) who preceded her in death. She was a 1955 graduate of Rossford High School where she took an active role in plays, Y- -Teens and R.C.A.
In 1956, she married the love of her life, Roger, and they spent the next 66 years of marriage together before his passing on March 7, 2023. Helen was a stay-at-home mom. Her family was her life. She took pride in cooking at least three meals a day for her family (yes, three meals because we walked home from school during lunch so we could have a hot meal!) In addition to her love of cooking and baking, Helen was quite a seamstress sewing many Halloween costumes, everyday clothing, prom dresses, and Christmas stockings. Also, preceding Helen's death was her brother Robert Dabrowiak. She is survived by her three children Jeff (Susan) Gramza, Cynthia (Mike) King, and Kimberly (Scott) Janson. Helen was Noni to 9 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren with another expected in May.
Helen loved her feline friends and requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Paws and Whiskers Cat Shelter at 32 Hillwyck Dr. Toledo, Ohio 43615 or Hospice of N.W. Ohio. The family would like to thank everyone at Lakes of Monclova for the professional, compassionate, loving, and outstanding care mom received while making "Lakes" her home over the last year. The family would also like to thank Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their care and support given to Mom. Lastly, thanks to Jackie Limes (Palko), Mom's best friend for 83 years, for visiting her almost weekly.
Funeral services will be held on April 11th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Maumee, Ohio. Interment will take place at Fort Meigs Cemetery in Perrysburg, Ohio. Condolences can be sent to the family through Berstickerscottfuneralhome.com. Arrangements by the Bersticker-Scott Funeral Home 3453 Heatherdowns Blvd. at Byrne Road.
