Donna was born on November 19, 1946, To the late Lawrence B. and Matilda A. (Jantz) Magrum.
A devoted educator, Donna dedicated 35 years of life to teaching English at Rogers High School. She retired in June 2003, leaving behind a distinguished career devoted to education, literature, and generations of students whose lives were enriched by her presence in the classroom.
Donna possessed a lifelong curiosity about the world and a wonderful sense of adventure. Her journeys took her 47 of the 50 United States, as well as the coast of West Africa, the South Pacific, Canada, and Europe. Each journey reflected her enthusiasm for experiencing new places cultures, and people.
Her love of the written word extended well beyond her years as an English teacher. Donna was an avid reader from childhood and maintained that passion throughout her life. Among her particular favorites were the Harry Potter books, which she read numerous times. She was also a former “Butterfly” at The Leaky Cauldron, a reflection of the sense of fun and imagination that remained part of her throughout her life.
Those who knew Donna may also remember her fondness for her signature color, teal – a small but distinctive reflection of her personality.
Above all, Donna cherished her family. She especially loved coming to Louisville, Kentucky. The memories created during those visits, along with countless experiences shared throughout her life, will remain treasured by those who loved her.
Donna was preceded in death by her father Lawrence B. Magrum, her mother, Matilda A. Magrum and her brother, Robert L. Magrum.
Donna is survived by her brother Richard (Barbara) Magrum; her nephews Jonathan (Emily), Jason (Michelle); her great-niece, Madelyn; and her great-nephews Lucas, Jackson and Barron Magrum.
