Donald W. Carvin age 98 of Toledo, Ohio passed away June 20, 2016 in the Franciscan Care Center of Sylvania. Born on May 30, 1918 in Wellsbridge, New York to George L and Mattie (Nichols) Carvin. Donald served in the United States Army during peace time from 1936 to 1939. Donald retired from industrial sales in 1984 where he worked for Gilbert Tool Co, Do All Tool serving as its president, and Thor Power Tool. Mr. Carvin was active 70 year member of Damascus/ Collingwood Lodge No. 643 F & A.M. serving as chaplain for many years and also served as the past patron of FT Industry O.E.S. #391. Donald was also an Eagle Scout in Troop #1 in the State of New York the first Boy Scout troupe in the United States. Donald was preceded in death by his wife Edith in 1998. Surviving are his son Leonard (Donna) Peterson, daughter, Donna (Gene) Fast. Grandchildren, Jeff Fast, Michael Fast, Dave (Lisa) Fast, Karen (Jeff) Edwards, Eric Peterson, also surviving are 6 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren. The family will receive friends at The Bersticker-Scott Funeral Home 3453 Heatherdowns Blvd at Byrne Road on Thursday June 23, 2016 from 4-8 P.M. with Damascus/ Collingwood masonic lodge services held at 7:00 p.m. Private graveside services will be held in Woodlawn Cemetery. The family would like to thank Terry and Sister Jordan at Franciscan Care Center for the care she shown to Donald. Memorials can be directed to Franciscan care center or Mayfair Plymouth Church.
