Diane D Pauken

Diane D. Pauken, age 84, passed away in her home on July 10th after battling cancer for many years. A lifelong resident of South Toledo, Diane was born Oct. 18, 1940, to Leonard and Helen Pauken. She was a graduate of Libbey High School and earned a Bachelor’s degree from Wittenberg University. Her Master’s degree in counseling was from the University of Toledo, and she held the Educational Specialist degree from Bowling Green State University.

Diane began her career with the Toledo Public Schools teaching Math at Scott High School. She moved next to Fulton Elementary as a counselor and completed her career at Libbey H.S. where she built strong relationships serving students, staff and families as a counselor. Diane was a generous friend and possessed an uncanny ability to connect to just about anyone. She possessed a brilliant mind, disarming wit, and an empathetic heart.

After retirement, she continued her love for sports and joined many golf and bowling leagues. She was an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Toledo, serving on several committees. She was the congregational president for 3 years.

Diane was predeceased by her parents, Leonard and Helen (Schroeder) Pauken, her aunt Dorothy Schroeder, her uncle Howard Schroeder, and many special family pets. She is survived by several cousins, her long-time friend Lilly Szyskowski, and beloved neighbors Greg and Elva Rodríguez.

Visitation will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 428 N. Erie St. in Toledo, Ohio on Wed. July 16th, 2025, beginning at 12:30 PM. Funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM with burial at Toledo Memorial Park. During her illness, Diane greatly appreciated the support from her church family and the care provided by the Home Instead team and Hospice of NW Ohio.
