Catherine "Katie" C Shier

Catherine "Katie" C. Shier, 98, formerly a longtime resident of South Toledo, passed away in the Elizabeth Scott Community on October 3, 2026, just one day short of her 99th birthday. Catherine was born on October 4, 2026, in Gibsonburg, Ohio to Casper M. and Helen M. (Kirsch) Sterzel.

Catherine worked for Ohio Bell and Picton Cavanaugh Insurance Co. in the Accounting Department. Catherine was a former member of Our Lady Perpetual Catholic Church in South Toledo.

Catherine enjoyed being a mall walker at the former Southwyck Mall and Meijer store in Maumee, Ohio.

Catherine was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Shier December 27, 2024; daughter, Kathy Ann Shier, grandson, Eric Shier. Surviving is her son, Terry (Janice) Shier, grandson, Joel Shier.

A private family graveside service will be held at Toledo Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Bersticker-Scott Funeral Home, 3453 Heatherdowns Blvd at Byrne Road, Toledo, Ohio.
