Allen G. Grohnke, 76 of Toledo, Ohio passed away Sunday October 1, 2023, in the
University of Toledo Medical Center after a brief illness. Born June 28, 1947, in
Toledo, Ohio to Henry and Mary Jane (Briggs) Grohnke. Allen attended the former
Macomber High School. Allen served in the US Army for 4 years as a
quartermaster.
Allen worked for the City of Toledo at the Cullins park sewage treatment plant for
35 years. Allen also worked for NAPA auto parts as a delivery driver for several
years.
Allen was a former member of Bethel Lutheran Church where he was baptized and
St. Petri Lutheran Church. Allen enjoyed fishing, Hunting, and camping on Kelly's
Island. Allen was a member of the Lake Erie Foul and Southside Sportsman's
Club.
Allen was proceeded in death by his parents, daughter, Lisa Lynn Grohnke, sister,
Debra Vermilyea. Surviving is his wife of 49 years Freddie (Smith) Grohnke whom he married on December 15, 1974, daughter, Kari Grohnke, son, Richard Grohnke, brother, Michael (Sandi) Grohnke, sister, Cheryl Cousino, granddaughter, Hailee
Grice, Hope Grohnke, great grandson, Leo King, stepchildren, Angel Champion,
Josh Olvera. Also surviving are nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at The Bersticker-Scott Funeral Home 3453
Heatherdowns Blvd at Byrne Road Saturday October 7, 2023, after 1:00 p.m.
where services will be held at 3:00 p.m. with military honor's Reverend Timothy
Rothfuss officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or the Junvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
