William C "Bill" Mccormick

A gentle spirit who always had a kind word, a smile and a story to tell, Bill lost his battle with chronic kidney disease, and heart disease complicated by the Covid-19 virus. Always as active as possible, he was regularly seen out walking his beloved dog, Freddie, chatting up neighbors until his move to assisted living in January, 2020. Bill was also a WWII veteran serving in the Army running reconnaissance in Patton's 3rd army.

He is survived by daughter Barbara Code (Thomas, deceased) of Westlake, Ohio, Michael O'Brien (Michelle O'Brien), Amherst, Ohio, granddaughters, Lisa Scrofano (Daniel) of Lorain, Ohio and Erin Owoade (Funmi) of Atlanta, Georgia. Bill was great grandfather to Anna, Selah, Viola, Will, Wyatt, Samuel and Vivian

He was preceded in death by wife, Maxine in 2015, son David Paul McCormick in 2010 and daughter Janet Sue McCormick in 2011. He was also preceded in death by sisters Neda Badour and Mary Stoner.

He was a member of the Lorain Lighthouse Methodist Church.

A long time resident of Toledo, he moved to Lorain to be closer to family in October of 2014. Bill was very proud of his second act as the Business Manager of The Masonic Bulletin in Toledo, after a long career in the insurance industry. He was Past Master of the former Triad Lodge, Past High Priest and Secretary of Ft. Meigs Chapter, Past Illustrious Master of Toledo Council and Past Commander and Recorder of Toledo Commandery #7. Bill was also elected a Knight of the York Cross of Honor.

Due to Covid restrictions a private graveside service will be held at Ottawa Hills Cemetery in Toledo with a more formal service at a later date.
