Veda A Eckert Veda A. Eckert, 89 of South Toledo passed away November 5, 2014 in Hospice of Northwest Ohio Toledo. Veda was born on October 12, 1925 in Henry Co, Ohio to Alfred and Matilda (Gray) Haffey. She graduated from Liberty Center High School in 1943. Veda worked as a teacher's aid for the Toledo Public Schools for 19 years and was a member of Salem United Methodist Church serving as recording Secretary and also a member of the Mayores Senior Center and the Lido Lanes Wednesday Senior Bowling League. She was also involved with Indoor Sports. Veda was preceded in death by her husband, Sherman E. Eckert, brothers, Waldon Haffey, Galord Haffey, sister and brother in law, Imo and Clinton Brubaker and Clifford "Skip" (Doris) Eckert, and grandson, Gary Andrew "Andy" Eckert, Jr. Surviving are her sons, Gary (Cathy) Eckert, Robert (Amy) Eckert, daughter, Tena (William) Schad, 13 grandchildren, (Denise, Crystal, Ryan, Tiffany, Stephanie (Joshua) Lind, Jessica , Alexandria, Joshua, Laura, Brittnie, Hunter and Raymond), 9 great grandchildren (Zack, Danielle, Myles, Marlee, Berkley, Malachi, Madison, Logan and Chance) also surviving are sister in law, Marie Haffey, Grace (Don) Sly, Veda's special friend Ann Polcyn and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends and relatives on Sunday November 9, 2014 2-8 at The Bersticker-Scott Funeral Home 3453 Heatherdowns Blvd at Byrne Rd where services will be held on Monday November 10, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. with Pastor Ken Dantzler officiating.
