Vanason Grace Rodgers

Vanason Grace Rodgers (Shaffer) Vanason Grace (Shaffer) Rodgers, 80, was called to be with the Lord on October 29, 2017. She was born on June 1, 1937 to Walter Fred and Theresa V. (Drake) Shaffer in Toledo, Ohio. Vanason graduated from Woodward High School in 1956. She married her high school sweetheart Harold Rodgers and remained married for 60 years. She was a member of Church of the Cross United Methodist Church. Family was always most important to Vanason. Her interests also included sewing, cooking, needlepoint, travel, and friends. Throughout her life she was able to visit Canada, Hawaii, Acapulco, and Barbados. She loved playing cards and nights out with friends. Enjoying making others laugh, and giving to others, Vanason volunteered at the Shrine Circus for many years, until she was no longer able. She was the owner of the former Vanny's Baseball Card Shop in Rossford. She was a member of the Dendarah Court No. 10, Ladies' Oriental Shrine of North America, in Toledo, Ohio for more than 31 years. Vanason was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Graydon Switzer and grand-daughter Destiny Hannah. She is survived by her husband Harold, sons Patrick (Joyce) Rodgers, and Jeff Miller, her daughters Kelly (Rick) Herrera, Tracy (Vince) Hornik and Colleen (Daniel) Hannah, 10 grand children and 2 great-grandchildren. Join the family as they celebrate the life of Vanason on November 11th at the Casey Pomery house, located at 802 N. Huron St., Toledo, Ohio from 12 - 4 p.m. In memory of Vanason, the family asks that donations be made to the Scholorship Fund of Dendarah Court No. 10, or for Parkinson's research. The family would like to thank Heartland Hospice Care for the amazing care and services that they provided during their time of need. Vanason will be missed.
