Raymond Carl Pockmire Raymond Carl Pockmire, 91, of Maumee, OH passed away Sunday June 17, 2012 at the Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. Mr. Pockmire was born on March 27, 1921 in Toledo, OH to Harold L. & Adeline (Kamper) Pockmire. Raymond served in the Army Air Corp during WWII as a staff sergeant in radio and radar operations. Mr. Pockmire worked for the former Ohio Bell Telephone Co. for 40 years retiring in 1981. During his time with Ohio Bell he was with mobile radio and TV for national sporting events. Raymond played an important role in operating the TV microwave equipment from the Neil Armstrong home in Wapakoneta, OH at the time of the moon landing. He also helped Western Electric set up the Dew Line across Alaska and Canada. Raymond enjoyed golf, tennis, photography and traveling. He was a member of the South Toledo Kiwanis Club serving as President and Secretary, Telephone Pioneers, Brandywine Country Club, VFW Post #1115 Maumee, Greater Toledo Civil War Veterans, and St. Lucas Lutheran Church. Surviving is his wife of 68 years Marilyn (Schoof), son Robert W. Pockmire of Chicago, IL, daughter Barbara Ann (Jim) Fitzpatrick, Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, grandchildren Stephen (Cindy) Fitzpatrick,Toronto, Canada, Trevor (Marilyn) Fitzpatrick, Portland, OR, Brian Fitzpatrick, Cleveland, OH, great-grandchildren Adeline and Collin Fitzpatrick, Toronto, Canada, brother-in-law William W. Schoof Jr., Perrysburg, OH, and sister-in-law Dorothy Pockmire, Pinehurst, NC. Graveside services will be held Saturday June 23, 2012 at 12:00 noon at Toledo Memorial Park Cemetery with a memorial service to follow at St. Lucas Lutheran Church 745 Walbridge Ave. Toledo, OH at 1:00 P.M. The family suggests memorials to St. Lucas Lutheran Church or to the Toledo Zoo. Arrangements by the Bersticker-Scott Funeral Home 3453 Heatherdowns Blvd at Byrne Rd.
