Paul Edward Proudfoot

Paul E. Proudfoot, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away on March 25, 2010, after a brief illness surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 11, 1930 to Herbert and Gladys (Sasse) Proudfoot, who both preceded him in death. He graduated from Macomber High School in 1947 and then went on to play football at Toledo University, where he graduated with a Bachelor's Degree of Science in Civil Engineering. He then served as a Seabee in the Korean War stationed in the Philippines. Upon returning from the war, he worked for the City of Toledo and then worked for ODOT District 2 from 1962 to 1967. He purchased Porter W. McDonnell Engineering in 1967, which is still in operation today as Proudfoot Associates. He loved his company, and worked there daily until late 2009, never retiring. He was a 33rd Degree Mason, Ancient Accepted Scottish Right, Calumet Temple and also belonged to the Zenobia Shrine. His hobbies included woodworking, duck hunting, collecting decoys, but most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren, who always referred to him as their "Pa". He was also preceded in death by his brother, Robert Carl Proudfoot. Surviving are his loving wife of 53 years Marilyn; daughter, Lynette (Tom) Gergich, and their children, Amanda and Zach; son Paul E. Proudfoot, II (Cate) and their son, Paul III; and numerous nieces and nephews. Special surviving lifelong friends include Mike and Shirley Sbrrochi and Family, John Doriat, Ora Alleman, Buddy Restivo, Otto Adler and Andre Hindo. Visitation will be held at Bersticker-Scott Funeral Home 3453 Heatherdowns Blvd at Byrne Rd. on Monday, March 29th from 6-9 p.m. Private graveside burial will take place Tuesday, March 30th, at Riverside Cemetery in Maumee.
