Mary Louise Glen, Toledo, OH, passed away on January 6, 2015. She was 84. Born in Detroit, MI, on May 15, 1930, Mary Louise graduated from Cass Technical High School and then Wayne State University. She proceeded to devote her professional life to education, first teaching reading to elementary school students and later spending four decades as a professor at the University of Toledo. There she pioneered in the teaching of courses on women's roles in American life and marriage and the family. She also traveled the world: Europe, Asia, Africa, South America, the Caribbean, Mexico, Hawaii, Alaska. And she never lacked for opinions, often for good reason. She is survived by her sons John M. Glen, Indianapolis, IN; Paul M. Glen, Aiea, HI; David H. Glen, Weston, MA; her nephew, nieces, and grandchildren; and her many friends. All of them have recognized her strong advocacy for women's independence, and they intend to carry that forward. The family will receive friends at The Bersticker-Scott Funeral Home 3453 Heatherdowns Blvd at Byrne Road on Saturday January 17, 2014 after 10:00 a.m. where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. A private family burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any contributions be made to the Dr. Mary Louise Glen Scholarship Fund at the University of Toledo.
