Marie C. Greunke Haberkamp, age 98, passed away on February 10th at Lutheran Village at Wolf Creek in Holland Ohio where she lived since 2005. Marie was born November 13, 1912 in Toledo, grew up on a farm in Trowbridge, Ohio, and graduated from Oak Harbor High School in 1931. Marie was preceded in death (1989) by her husband Julius L. Haberkamp and four brothers and one sister. She is survived by her sisters, Irene Hansen of Toledo and Lorna Stayton of Eldorado, Ohio and sister-in-law Fern Greunke of Graytown Ohio. She leaves a son Eugene Haberkamp of Columbus, Ohio, a daughter Patricia Neidhart (Ken Knowles) of Jensen Beach, Florida, 7 grandchildren; Cathy Haberkamp Smith (Kenny), Michael Haberkamp (Angela Kidwell), Jim Neidhart, Dawn Haberkamp Randall(Shawn Durbin), Jeff Neidhart (Griselda), Jenifer Neidhart de Ortiz (Juan), and Lori Haberkamp Kehrle (David). Very special to Marie were her 18 great-grandchildren; Kristopher, Ashley, Cory, Thayer, Brittany, Jessica, Joshua, Brooke, Sara, Devin, Jordan, Haley, Madison, Sofia, Liesel, Eva, Nico, Zara and 6 great great-grandchildren, Serinety, Dallas, Riley, Paisley, Violet and Mason. Marie also has seventeen favorite nieces and nephews. Marie did volunteer work while being a "stay at home Mom". She worked many years at the Red Cross and for 25 years at the voting precinct. Marie was very active in her children's activities. She held various offices including President of the Mother's Club at Longfellow Elementary School and served six years as leader for the Club Scouts and Girl Scouts. She worked part time for many years at Tiedtke's and Lasalles Department Stores and at Columbia Burner during the Korean War. At age 50, she attained a LPN nursing certificate from Flower Hospital and worked there until retirement. After she retired she continued helping people by being their driver, counselor, and friend. She was a member of Collingwood/Fort Industry Chapter of Eastern Stars for over 60 years and a member of Ruth Circle. Marie was a 50 year member of Dendarah Court of the Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America where she was an officer of Meekah nursing group. Marie enjoyed cooking and family gatherings and her home was often the place of celebration. Friends may call at the Bersticker-Scott Funeral Home, at 3453 Heatherdowns at Byrne Rd on Tuesday, February 15, 2011 from 4-8 P.M. where funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. Interment to follow at Toledo Memorial Park Cemetery. For a memorial please consider the Lutheran Home Society Foundation at 2021 N.
