Kenneth Derose

Kenneth DeRose, age 93 of Boca Raton, Florida formerly of Venice, Florida and Toledo, Ohio passed away Sunday January 31, 2010 in his son's residence. Born November 26th, 1916 in Toledo, Ohio, the son of Alvena and Sam DeRose. He was preceded in death by his brother Herb and sisters Shirley Gladieux and Thelma Cobourn and Daughter-in-law Darlene DeRose. From 1924-1930, he lived at the Miami Children's Home, Maumee, Ohio. He attended Whitmer High School (1930-32), the former Vocational School, Toledo, Ohio, 1932-33 and graduated from DeVilbiss High School in 1934. He attended the University of Toledo from 1934-1936 in the College of Engineering. He also attended Tri-State Business School in Toledo. He completed classes at The Credit Men's Association to become a Fellow. He was a mechanical engineer at the E.W. Bliss Co. from 1937-1959 and the Libbey Owens Ford Technical Center from 1959-1979. He earned several patents while at LOF. In 1961, he took the Professional Engineer exam and was registered as a Professional Engineer. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church since 1939. Mr. DeRose married Josephine Patterson on May 25, 1940. They had four children. She passed on May 27, 1977. In October, 1979 he married Pearl Morton. They loved golf, dining out and playing cards with friends. They traveled extensively and enjoyed their homes in Florida and Ohio. Pearl passed away in September, 2007. Kenneth is survived by children, Richard, Boca Raton, Fl., Jim (Debbie), Pacific Palisades, CA., Janice Jennings, Boulder, CO., and Jenifer (Martin) Gosses, Amherst, OH., nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the Bersticker-Scott Funeral Home 3453 Heatherdowns Blvd at Byrne Rd Saturday February 6, 2010 after 11:00 A.M. where services will be held at 1:00 P.M. interment Ottawa Hills Memorial Park Cemetery. The family suggests donation's may be made to Hospice by the Sea, Boca Raton Fl., or St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Toledo, Ohio.
