Karlene Ann Carpenter

Karlene Ann Carpenter Karlene Ann Carpenter, 88, passed away July 21, 2012 in the Hospice of Northwest Ohio Toledo Campus. Mrs. Carpenter was born on February 11, 1924 in Toledo, Ohio to William H. and Celestia (Druillard) Gunderman. Mrs. Carpenter graduated from Libbey High School in 1942 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy as a pharmacist mate during WWII for two years and was recalled during the Korean conflict for 2 more years. Upon returning from the navy Mrs. Carpenter helped manage with her parents the former Ro-Les Bar on Dorr Street for many years. Mrs. Carpenter was a member of Epiphany Lutheran Church, the Lake Erie Waves Unit #128 serving as President and Treasurer, the Swanton American Legion Post # 479, and was interviewed for the Library of Congress about WWII. Mrs. Carpenter was part of the Honor Flight last summer visiting the World War II Memorial. Surviving are her daughters, Carla (Dennis) Snell, Cindy (David) Skinner, grandchildren, Kelly Jo (Jim) Cooper, Eric Snell, Bryan Skinner, Andrea Skinner, great grandchildren, Jasten, Grayden and Salem Cooper and Gage Snell. The family will receive friends at the Urbanski Funeral Home 5055 Secor Rd North of Laskey Rd on Monday July 23, 2012 2-8 P.M. and after 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday July 24, 2012 with funeral services at 11:00 A.M. Interment to follow at Toledo Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors.
