Jane E. Mayer

Jane E Mayer Jane E Mayer, 88, passed away September 19, 2011 in her residence. Jane was born on February 23, 1923 in Sandusky, Ohio to Helen (Aten) and William O'Rork. Jane grew up in Luna Pier, MI and served in the Navy in WW II as a Pharmacist's Mate. She worked for the Dresch Dental Lab as a Dental Technician retiring in 1989. Previously she worked for the Norris Dental Lab. Jane was an active member of Conn-Weissenberger American Legion Post No 587, where she served as Adjutant and Service Officer, and the Friendship Park Community Center. She was also a member of the Lake Erie Waves Unit 128 and was the unit's first president when it formed in Toledo. She joined the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary and volunteered at Bay View and Marblehead Stations for 18 years. She considered the station and crew her extended family. In 2009, she was the proud recipient of an Honor Flight to Washington D.C. Jane was also a former member of the Eagles Lodge Aerie No. 193. Jane was preceded in death by her husband Roy Mayer, daughter, Linda Mayer, parents, Helen and Floyd Cannon, father William O'Rork and half-brother, James O'Rork. Surviving is her daughter, Julie (Chris) Derbeck, granddaughters, Jennifer (Michael) MacLeod, Heather (Jeremy) Mikolajczyk, great grandchildren, Madison Mikolajczyk, Benjamin MacLeod, Morgan Macleod and Abigail MacLeod. The family will receive friends at the Urbanski Funeral Home 5055 Secor Rd (North of Laskey) Thursday September 22, 2011 2-8 P.M. with Conn-Weissenberger American Legion Post services held at 7:30 P.M. Funeral services will be held on Friday September 23, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. A private inurnment will be held at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park Cemetery.
