Florence Catherine Saco

Florence Catherine Saco Florence C Saco age 94, passed away at Parkcliffe Community on December 26, 2012. Florence was born in Toledo on October 23, 1918 to Edward and Maude (Gibbons) Beam. She grew up in Toledo's North End and graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1937. It was at Central that she met her future husband, Kevin Joseph Saco, during their senior year. She and Kevin were married in May, 1946, upon his return from Europe where he served in the army during World War II. Kevin preceded her in death in May 1977, and it was after his passing that she learned to drive a car and became more self-sufficient. Florence was a homemaker and taught herself to hang wallpaper, paint, make small repairs and upholster furniture for herself and for others who admired her work. She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Toledo. She is survived by her son, Kevin Jr. (Sharon); daughter, Kathy; grandson, Matthew; sister-in-law, Mary Beam; niece, Sandy Rose, and nephew, Thomas Beam. Florence was also preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, William Beam. A memorial gathering will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 5, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 2255 Central Grove in Toledo, followed by Mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial at Calvary Cemetery will follow. The family would like to thank the staff of Parkcliffe Community and Promedica Hospice for their wonderful care and Bersticker-Scott Funeral Home for help in making funeral arrangements.
