Doris Jean Powell

Doris Jean Powell was born in Toledo, Ohio on November 20, 1927 to Lawrence and Doris (Grubb) Meyer. She entered Heaven's gates on January 8, 2017. A dedicated social worker, Doris worked for Lucas County until her retirement at age 65. Doris was a member of the Honor Society, Phi Kappa Phi, and the Lincoln League (A women's group). She had an unwavering faith in God and was a member of Collingwood Presbyterian Church where she served as an Elder. Doris was predeceased by her loving husband, James Ross Powell, daughter Melissa Cousino and son, Michael Powell. Left behind to miss her are her grandchildren, Daniel Powell, and Melody (Chris) Arrington, three great-grandchildren, and her loving daughter-in-law, Sandy Powell. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 20, 2017 after 10 a.m. at Collingwood Presbyterian Church, 2108 Collingwood Blvd, Toledo, Ohio where a memorial service celebrating her life will be at 11:00 a.m. Instead of flowers please consider a donation to her church.
