Carolyn Patton October 10, 1920 - October 30, 2012 Carolyn Patton passed away peacefully at Frederick Memorial Hospital. Her beloved daughter, Carol Lee Gill, was at her bedside during her brief hospital stay. Carolyn was born in Fairfield, TN and grew to the age of 7 in Bell Buckle, TN where her father, Tom Powell, was an insurance salesman. In 1927 the family moved to Toledo, Ohio where Carolyn attended Scott High School and receives bachelors and masters degrees from the University of Toledo. Carolyn joined the Toledo Public Schools as an elementary school teacher and retired as Director of Teacher Personnel after 30 years of service. She married her beloved husband Paul Patton, on November 2, 1941. Paul hitchhiked from Fort Knox, KY to Toledo so he could marry Carolyn before he was deployed to fight in Europe as a member of the Army Air Corps. Carolyn and Paul were married for over 60 years. Carolyn is survived by her daughter Carol Lee (Tom) Gill, her grandson Scott Clayton (Kimberly) Gill, and her great grandsons Zachary Scott Gill and Clayton James Gill. The family will welcome visitors from 10:00 am to 11:00 am Saturday November 17, 2012 at Bersticker-Scott Funeral Home 3453 Heatherdowns Blvd. Toledo, OH 43614. Carolyn's funeral service will begin at 11:00 am. The family prefers donations to Fisher Center for Alzheimer's Research, One Intrepid Square, West 46th St. & 12th Ave., New York, NY 10036
