Betty V Tashenberg

Betty Victoria Tashenberg, 92, of Toledo, Ohio passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at the Hospice of Northwest Ohio facility on Detroit Avenue in Toledo, Ohio.

Betty was born in Bloomville, Ohio to Frederick William Rothhaar and Mary Naomi Rothhaar on November 27, 1930. She attended Harvard Elementary and Libbey High School, class of 1948. She also attended the University of Toledo. Betty married Frederick E. Tashenberg in June of 1953.

Betty worked as a secretary at the University of Toledo along with being a teller at United Savings and Loan branch in downtown Toledo during the 1950's. Betty returned to the work force in 1972 working as an admissions clerk at The Toledo Clinic. She retired in the late 1980's.

Betty spent her spare time sewing and making craft items for the benefit of many children at local churches. Her products were also sold at The Toledo Zoo and at the St. Luke's Hospital Auxiliary Gift Shop.

Betty was an avid Detroit Tigers fan. She watched the games in the evenings keeping a scorecard for each game. She did that religiously until her late 80's. Her favorite players were Denny McLain, Mark (the bird) Fidrych, Al Kaline and of course, Miggy!!!

Betty is preceded in death by her husband Fred (2008), her parents and her siblings, Ray Rothhaar, Doris Geiger and Fairy Cook. She is survived by her son Fred and his wife Alison along with her grandchildren, Matt and Marissa.

The family wishes to extend our thanks to all of the staff at the Hospice of NW Ohio facility on Detroit Avenue in Toledo for their efforts and help during the last few months. They were amazing.
