Barbara Ann Zaenger

Barbara Ann Zaenger, 80, died unexpectedly Saturday, July 31, at her home at Oblate Residences. Born April 1, 1930, the last of nine children, she graduated proudly from Woodward High School, the first member of her family to earn a high school diploma. She went on to a 45-year career in the banking industry at Toledo Trust (now Key Bank), retiring in 1995. A private person who cultivated few but long-lasting friendships, Barbara was known for her great humor, her fierce loyalties and her devotion to her parents and her scattered siblings. She is survived by her brothers Calvin of Andalusia, Ala., and Dwayne of Jacksonville, Fla., as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bessie Mae (Reidling) and John Christian Zaenger, and by her siblings Arnold, Richard, Kenneth, Valdetta (Decker), John and Herbert. Friends and family may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday August 4, 2010 at the Bersticker-Scott Funeral Home, 3453 Heatherdowns Blvd at Byrne Rd.
